as you know from our own jim miklaszewski and interviews with martin dempsey, the joint chiefs chairman and what the president has said to karzai, we are not going to wait for anything further from him, we have given up on him. so what happens if we end up withdrawing all troops from afghanistan? >> it could be a problem. i mean, in terms of just the security in afghanistan, the troops there, their forces have improved a great deal. they are miles ahead of where they were just a few years ago, but are they going to be able to resist a kind of hit-and-run guerilla war by the taliban. and the other issue is counter terrorism and what our basis is there. this is a real problem and the president is doing a real thing by calling karzai's bluff. he left the door open, though, there's a presidential election coming up in a couple months, and the new president might be ready to sign this thing. the irony is they had this convention of the whole leadership of the whole country, and they said yes to the whole deal. and now karzai, i don't think anybody knows what game he's playing. i don't know a
